An accomplished pediatrician with more than 16 years of experience, Dr. Mary Beth Doyle grew up in Lexington. Her interests include caring for newborns, children with asthma and high-risk children with multiple medical problems.
Dr. Doyle completed her pediatric residency as a member of the U.S. Air Force at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia. She earned her medical degree from the University of Louisville and graduated from Centre College with a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Dr. Doyle spent three years as an attending pediatrician at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois before receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force as a Major. She then returned home to Kentucky, where she also cares for children at Clark Regional Medical Center. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
With a passion to do more for the children of central Kentucky, Dr. Doyle partnered with Dr. Lauren Kostelnik to create Child First, a pediatric-specific urgent care that offers greater access to evidenced-based medical care for infants and children with acute illnesses and injuries.
Dr. Doyle loves spending time with her husband, also an Air Force veteran, and their two boys, who are working on their black belts in karate. She enjoys family walks and playing with the family’s golden retriever, Toby. Dr. Doyle also enjoys crafts of all kinds, baking and decorating her home for all major holidays, especially Christmas.
Dr. Lauren Kostelnik is a skilled board-certified pediatrician with more than 12 years of experience. Her pediatric interests are numerous, but topping the list are caring for newborns and infants and working with first-time parents. She strives to understand children and parents and respects their opinions on treatment plans. She views herself as a partner with the parents in the care of the child.
Dr. Kostelnik attended undergraduate at Transylvania University in Lexington, KY, and went on to attend medical school in her hometown of Pikeville, KY at University of Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then completed pediatrics residency at the University of Kentucky.
She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Along with her emergency medicine and pediatrics trained husband, Dr. Bruce Kostelnik, Dr. Lauren works at Clark Regional Medical Center. Lauren and Bruce have two children who keep them busy – you can find her on weeknights and many weekends at the football, baseball fields or basketball courts cheering on their son, and supporting their daughter in her love for all things cheerleading. They enjoy farming, boating and traveling to Disney. Dr. Lauren also enjoys attending church and organizing and cleaning.
Dr. Bruce Kostelnik is a fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine Physicians and is a board certified ER physician. He is a native of Winchester, and currently serves there as the medical director of the Clark Regional Medical Center’s ER as well as working at the University of Kentucky’s Chandler ER. He also serves as the director for many Fire/EMS crews and trains medical students and physician assistant students in his ER. Dr. Bruce also attended undergraduate at Transylvania University, where he met his wife, Lauren. He went on the University of Pikeville for medical school and completed a year of pediatrics residency as well as the 3-year program to become a board-certified ER physician at the University of Kentucky.
He has seen first-hand the need for high quality pediatric healthcare in an acute setting and is uniquely trained to partner with his wife, Dr. Lauren Kostelnik and Dr. Doyle in opening Child First.
Dr. Bruce is an avid outdoorsman and a self-professed jack of all trades. You can find him on the lake boating, on the farm mowing or in the barn building when he is not in the ER.
